Wedding DJ · Seattle & the Puget Sound · Since 2010

The music does
the talking.

I'm Jacob Black — a working musician who DJs weddings. Classy, minimal mic, zero cheese. Just the right song at the right moment, a day that flows without a hitch, and a dance floor that's full at the end.

Here's the magic.

You want a DJ who plays good music, who's classy and professional, and who you never have to worry about. You just want to get married and celebrate. Relax — you've found your DJ.

01 · The music

Built around you, not a stock playlist.

Give me as much or as little input as you want — a full spreadsheet, a vibe, or “1920s, please.” I'll set the mood all day and finish with an epic dance party.

02 · The mic

On the mic when it counts.

Short, clear announcements that land right on cue, timed with your other vendors so the day flows. When a moment calls for more — a grand entrance, calling everyone to the floor — I’ll bring it. The rest of the time, I let the right song speak for itself.

03 · The setup

Pro sound that disappears into the room.

Professional sound, a separate ceremony system, wireless mics for toasts, and tasteful dance floor lighting — all in clean black façades. All I need from the venue is one standard outlet.

“Jake is a musician — not just a commercialized DJ doing cookie cutter weddings.”

Couples say it better.

“Best. Wedding. DJ. EVER!”

“Respectful and unassuming at the actual reception (unlike in-your-face-kind of DJs). The kind of guy you want to grab a beer with. He knew how to read my tastes, and that of the crowd, and really kept it going with GOOD music.”

Tony F. · Los Angeles

“I had an overly controlling spreadsheet and he was more than willing to find and play all of the random music selections I had requested. No typical DJ cheese, no music we didn't want, really fair flat rate fee and super friendly personality.”

Katie N. · Fremont Abbey Arts Center
“Using Black Magic DJ will ensure that you never will have a bad DJ story to tell!”

“He played the songs we requested, and even stayed a couple of hours late because there were a few of us remaining on the dance floor! … He even threw in a couple of extra songs he knew my dad liked!”

Alanna K. · Seattle

“Out of all our vendors, Jacob was the most self sufficient and knew what he needed to do and how to do it. Our wedding events took place in three different rooms and he had music, and sound ready and prepped for all three spaces. I would recommend Jacob to anyone who wants to feel completely confident in their DJ…”

Allison B. · Seattle
“I've never been to a wedding that was so custom-designed musically.”
Cindy L. · mother of the bride, Kansas City

“I was really worried about hiring one of those really annoying Jersey Shore type DJ's who loves to hear themselves over the microphone, and thankfully Jacob was exactly the opposite of that.”

Mercedes S. · as seen on TLC's Four Weddings
“A full dance floor where guests of all ages felt comfortable and excited to get down, and it totally happened. That takes a LOT of skill!”
Morgan R. · Auckland, NZ

“We literally told him we need ‘1920's music’, he picked the playlist and not only wowed us but we had a lot of feedback from our guests how great the music was. … He kept the DJ talking low key, laid back, quite frankly pretty swank.”

How it works.

  1. Tell me your date

I'll confirm availability and send a quote. Then we hop on a quick video call so you can see if we click.

  2. Shape the soundtrack

My planning packet covers your timeline, must-plays, do-not-plays and the feel you're after. Fill it in — or send your own playlists. Either works.

  3. Enjoy your wedding

I arrive early, set up everything myself, and run a smooth, well-timed day — ceremony to last dance.

Want live guitar or piano for your ceremony? Ask about custom arrangements.

Is your date open?

Tell me a little about the day and I'll get back to you with pricing and availability ASAP.
